Infrared Sauna Contraindications

  • Individuals using prescription medications, it is advised that you seek the advice of your provider for possible side effects

  • Individuals with cardiovascular conditions or those taking cardiovascular related medications should use the sauna with extreme caution

  • Individuals using Warfarin or other blood thinning medications, should refrain from using the sauna

  • Individuals who have a pacemaker/defibrillator should not use the sauna. The magnets used to assemble the sauna can interrupt the pacemaker

  • Individuals who have had a fever within the last 24 hours should not use the sauna

  • Alcohol use is advised against before using the sauna as your body may have a negative reaction to the heat

  • Individuals with chronic conditions that are linked to impaired sweating such as Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, central nervous system tumors, and diabetes with neuropathy are asked to consult with healthcare provider before using sauna

  • Individuals who are predisposed to bleeding should not use

  • Individuals with heat sensitivities should consult their healthcare provider before using

  • Women who are pregnant should consult with healthcare provider before using

  • Individuals who have surgical implants such as metal rods and pins, artificial joints generally reflect infrared waves and are not heated. However, if you experience pain near any such implants, discontinue sauna use and consult your physician.

  • If you have had a recent joint injury, the sauna may worsen swelling

  • Individuals under 18 years old may not use the sauna. Children’s core body temperature rises at a much faster rate, and they do not have the ability to regulate body temperature by sweating until after puberty.

  • We advise against using the sauna if you are over the age of 85. The ability to maintain core body temperate decreases with age.

  • Individuals receiving waxing services should not use the sauna before or after treatments, as it may cause sensitivity

There may be other conditions not listed above that would contraindicate sauna use or require consultation with a physician. If you have any medical condition, our policy is that you consult with your physician prior to sauna use
